Acrylic and sumi ink on paper 8 x 7 © 2011 - $200 To me creative activities are the best way to meditate. Brush movements reflect my moods, feelings and thoughts. In this technology-driven era filled with word processing letters and digital images, I write and draw with pencils, pens, and brushes in orthodox way to make sure how I feel through my arm.
Mamiko Ikeda was born in Tokyo, Japan. Her strong interest in Native American culture brought her to Colorado in 1995. While studying Native culture, especially storytelling, she has created poems, picture books, woolwork, manga, animation, and music. She practices Japanese calligraphy, which she learned from her mother, Shotei Miura, a master calligrapher. |
